The Business

From a Coastal Idea to an Ice Cream Phenomenon

What began as a bold business idea during a coastal vacation has grown since 2023 into one of the most popular destinations for ice cream lovers in Central Saxony.

Ronny Heymann and Annett Adler opened their first ice cream shop in Frankenberg in April 2023 — with a concept that was entirely new to the region: guests assemble their ice cream sundae completely by themselves.

The concept is beautifully simple yet unique: guests choose from three cup sizes and fill them up — with soft serve straight from the machine and a wide selection of toppings. From fresh fruits to chocolate chips, gummy bears and cornflakes — there's something for every taste.

Success proved the family right: the family now operates three locations — including the new 'n Eis-Cafe at the market square in Hainichen since March 2026, with around 40 seats, homemade pastries and hot beverages.

With growing popularity and three locations, one question became increasingly important: how do you strengthen the connection with regular customers and keep them coming back?

Ronny initially chose helloagain — a European platform for digital customer loyalty. But the limitations of this solution for a small, local business quickly became apparent:

helloagain doesn't publish prices — you only learn the monthly fees after a sales conversation. For a seasonal ice cream shop, the costs were disproportionately high.
